bob dylan- subterranean homesick blues
This video is very famous for being so simple yet so affective. all through the video we see bob dylan throwing cards behind him that have lyrics from the song on it. What also sticks out about this video is that at one point he messes up with the cards but because he is so cool it just styles so well with the song and it was filmed in one shot unplanned, spur of the moment down an alley at the hotel they was staying at.
MC hammer- cant touch this
MC hammer's cant touch this music video was used as a promotion video. The song explains him touring round the world and him being brilliant with the mic. This song become famous through the music video and the dance that comes with it which how its still known today after being released in the 80's, the director of the video was Rupert Wainwright.
the boomtown rats-i dont like mondays
The song is written about a tragedy in a primary school where Brenda-Ann Spencer, a 16 year old girl went on a shooting spree because she didn't like mondays. Geldof wrote the song after hearing about this tragedy on the radio. The lyrics mention brenda her self as well as her dad and her mum. The song was released less then a month after the tragedy happened.
so solid crew-21 seconds
So solid crew-21 seconds was released in August 2001 and reached number one in the first few weeks. the song was titled 21 seconds as each band member had that amount of time to perform their rap. The music video it self got an MTV award for best british video in 2002. The video was designed give off the image of so solid crew and it was this video that made the song so popular. When the song is heard today people will always think of the cage they walk through and rap through. Also it spent lots of money on extras, as you can see from the video there is extras all around the cage.

The purpose of a music video
A music video has a number of reason to make a video for their song.
- The video can promote the band or the song itself. (if the band or song are not selling very well they can make a music video in order to show that they are a decent band or a decent song.)
- Advertisement (some songs will include products in them to advertise what they are selling.)
- Appeal to a visual audience (a visual audience is a group of people who are entertained by a show.)
- Express a persons emotion (some song will have a big impact on the artist and will cause deep emotions.)
- Tells a story (there are certain song that will tell a story through the video.)
- Markets an image (artists like lady gaga will want to show off a certain image about themselves.)
